East Halmahera Regency in North Maluku really needs inspection services for the business sector in order to develop the economy in the region. Especially for the mining and processing sectors, agriculture, plantations, fisheries and tourism.

This was conveyed by the Regent of East Halmahera, Ubaid Yakub, when inaugurating the laboratory of state-owned inspection service PT Sucofindo at the Buli site, East Halmahera, early last June.

He hopes that Sucofindo’s Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) services will be very useful for his region.

“Inspection services are really needed in East Halmahera. We hope that Sucofindo can maximize its capacity, not only through laboratory testing services, but can provide inspection services in other business sectors. Especially, in developing potential in the fisheries, agriculture-plantation and tourism sectors,” said Ubaid in his statement, Wednesday (5/6/2024).

He also hopes that Sucofindo can also collaborate in empowering communities in East Halmahera.

Responding to this, Head of the Natural Resources Services Sub-Directorate of PT Sucofindo Nur Efendi said the company’s TIC services are not only for companies but also for TKDN certification, Amdal consultation, green industry services and Carbon Credit, up to LVV GHG, especially for environmental sustainability needs.

TIC Services for Site Buli

Vice President of Mineral SBU PT Sucofindo Paolo Manurung said that the presence of inspection services specifically in North Maluku could support business actors in the mining industry by prioritizing sustainable mining governance (sustainable mining practices).

There are 125 IUPs recorded in North Maluku, so the presence of TIC services in North Maluku, such as at Site Weda, Buli and Obi, is able to help mining industry players. Both for exploration needs, quality control, and product sales commerce.

“The Buli Site Laboratory has a large sample testing capacity (reaching a capacity of 12,000 samples per month) which is able to provide accurate results more efficiently,” said Paolo.

“In the future, we are committed to providing the best service, especially in testing the quality of mineral and coal content, as well as strengthening our capacity as a TIC Institute for other business sectors, as an effort to support economic development in East Halmahera and North Maluku at large,” concluded Paolo.
